Papa Roach at the DC 101 Chili Cook-off
Papa Roach took the stage mid-day at the DC 101 Chili Cook-off. Sandwiched between Puddle of Mudd and Shinedown they performed just as the crowd began to feel the effects of multiple bud lights and the radiating sun. Although they had early billing, they are rambunctious and infectious and inspired the crowd to participate in moshing, crowd surfing, and singing along to hits like Last Resort and Getting Away With Murder. They opened their set with a song that is fitting in these economic times, Between Angels and Insects, which drives home the point that there are no possessions, only obsessions.
In addition to old favorites, Papa Roach performed the first single, Lifeline, off of their recent release "Metamorphosis", and the next single called I Almost Told You That I Loved You.
Lead singer Jacoby Shaddix twittered that he was sick the day before when they played Richmond, VA but he seemed in top form for the Cook-off. Instead of resting up, he was spotted after their set watching Shinedown from the sidelines.
Their next local show is at Nissan Pavilion on July 29th opening for Nickelback.
