Panthers beat rival Chargers

Fossil Ridge notched its first District 5-5A win of the season Friday, defeating cross-town rival Central, 59-45.

Fossil Ridge got off to a fast start, opening with a 16-point first quarter, while holding the Chargers to only six points.

The second was more evenly matched, with the Panthers besting Central’s 13 points by one to hold a 30-19 lead at the half.

The two teams exchanged 20-point third and fourth quarters with the defenses holding each other to under double-digits, allowing Fossil Ridge to come away with the win.

The Panthers got scoring from the usual suspects as Julian Edmonson, Dre Anderson and Mark Munson combined for 42 of the team’s 59 points.

After facing the Mustangs on Tuesday, the Panthers host Justin Northwest on Friday and travel to take on Hurst L.D. Bell on Jan. 19.

Game time both nights is slated for 8 p.m.
