Panorama Mountain Village sees largest overnight snowfall in 10 years

At the rate February is going, there may as well be a giant snow cloud over two-thirds of North America. Canada and the United States are getting hammered with snow, making for pristine ski conditions and snow totals some resorts haven't seen in a long time.

Take Panorama Mountain Village, the British Columbia ski resort located in the southeastern portion of the province. The resort announced that more than 40 centimeters, or 15 inches for those of us unfamiliar with the metric system conversions, of light, dry powder fell at the village base overnight on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Panorama, where the average snowfall is 188 inches, hasn't seen that much snow fall overnight in 10 years. “It’s amazing the difference 12 hours can make," says Marke Dickson, Panorama’s Director of Sales and Marketing. "Suddenly we’re riding the deep powder of a once in a decade snowfall. Looking back at the records this is the heaviest overnight fall in the village in years and conditions will be supreme for Family Day and beyond."

Although slopeside accommodations are already sold-out for Family Day weekend's Saturday and Sunday nights, lodging can be found at nearby Invermere and Radium Springs. Or skiers can just hold out until Monday, Feb. 17 when Panorama's lift and lodging sale starts. To celebrate the snow, the 55 Dollar Lift and Lodging sale gives skiers the option to book any condo on the resort for $55 per person per night and add lift tickets for $55 each. Lift tickets usually run $75 for one day. This deal is good from February 17 to April 20 and includes spring break.

What's it going to be skiers: Cancun or Canada?
