Pangea Organics has been recognized by PETA for their decision to not sell their products in China. China mandates animal testing for all skincare and cosmetics sold. Pangea Organics has decided that the suffering of even one animal is not worth marketing to China.
Pangea Organics will receive the Courage in Commerce Award from PETA. In the past year PETA has also awarded Urban Decay, Paul Mitchell and NYX Cosmetics for staying true to their stance against animal testing. Pangea Organics became part of PETA's list of cruelty-free companies in 2006.
The past year has been interesting for animal testing. Although China still requires animal testing, the country has been receptive to alternative methods currently being introduced through the Institute for In Vitro Sciences. PETA has funded IIVS's work with China. Some countries including Israel as well as the European Union have decided to ban all cosmetics and household cleaning products that were created with animal testing. For further information on which companies are cruelty-free visit the PETA website. Also available from PETA is a guide featuring Hilaria Baldwin.
