Pangea Educational Development updates

Last Saturday, January 26th, was the big growth meeting, Raise Your Hand with PED, for Pangea Educational Development. They are evolving and changing with the current issues that are affecting the world. The updates are many and will be continual and reported on as they become available.

The meeting that occurred on Saturday was first and foremost to announce their premiere mission statement video. Then the discussion turned to information being released about the 2013 summer volunteer trip. Future plans were also on the forum about releasing additional school project videos. Those will be shared in the coming weeks.

Raise Your Hand with PED revealed a continuation of the journey that PED has begun to develop sustainable education programs in underprivileged communities abroad. PED’s mission certainly helps to empower schools and unify the communities in which they reach out to.

Although the meeting was completely successful, you may not have had the opportunity to attend, but there is still a way that you can support PED and get involved in their mission.

To begin, log onto their website and sign the PED Pledge. When you take this step, it reveals that you want to make education accessible for children in underprivileged communities. Once you make that pledge, spread PED’s word by getting involved in social media. Begin by sharing the PED video. Then click Like on PED’s Facebook site, join their conversation on Twitter, volunteer to go abroad, or participate with one of the PED teams and join their Bikes 4 Books, Shamrock Shuffle and/or Bike the Drive. Contact PED through their email, Volunteer@PangeaEducation.org, if you have interest in any or all of these activities.

The next item on the discussion block on Saturday was the Summer Volunteer opportunities. A reminder that all applications for summer trips are due on February 28th was announced. PED will be traveling once again to Uganda. Trips consist of two to four week time periods of time:

2013 Trip Dates
1. June 17 – July 1 (two weeks)
2. June 24 – July 8 (two weeks)
3. July 1 – July 29 (one month)
4. July 8 – July 22 (two weeks; POW trip)
5. July 15 – July 29 (two weeks)

Volunteers will work in teams to establish projects with the schools that PED partners with. By signing up for a volunteer trip, you will have the opportunity to witness how Pangea Educational Development’s undertakings make it possible for the students residing in Uganda to get an education.

You may be saying to yourself that this is a very large responsibility; not certain you are ready yet to commit to such a large task so far away. If you are unsure that going abroad is the right answer for you, why not attend PED’s first volunteer meeting of 2013? Set aside Sunday, February 10th at 2:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at DePaul University’s Richardson Library Dorothy Day Room; 2350 North Kenmore Avenue in Chicago. If you would like to have some questions answered even before the scheduled meeting, email Volunteer@PangeaEducation.org

Pangea Educational Development is going places and taking the world with it. Stay tuned for their newest latest greatest moves as they are revealed.
