New York's Pan Asian Repertory Theatre will present "Three Trees" directed by Ernest Abuba and written by Alvin Eng from March 23-April 14, 2013 at the West End Theater.
"Three Trees" asks audiences to ponder "What is art, inspiration and is art a vehicle for truth?"
The play explores the relationship between sculptor Alberto Giacometti who was a fixture of the French Existential art scene, Japanese philosopher Isaku Yanaihara, and Giacometti's wife, Annette.
Set in Paris in the 1950’s and 60’s, where radical revolutions of thought were finding expression through art and culture, the production focuses on a key figure in the Surrealist movement, Giacometti, who believed that all the sculptures of today, like those of the past, will one day end in broken pieces.
Cast includes Jean-Pierre Stewart, Marcus Ho, Scott Klavan, and Leah Cogan with Sets by Gian Marco Lo Forte, Costumes: Carol Pelletier, Lights: Marie Yokoyama, Props: Danielle Baskin.
