Pamela Geller: Obama didn't want to kill Osama Bin Laden

The Religious Right's mission to convince Americans that President Obama is a secret Muslim plotting against America undoubtedly suffered a severe blow when Osama Bin Laden, America's #1 enemy, was killed during a covert military operation ordered by Obama.

While other authoritarians have tried to dismiss this inconvenient fact by declaring the death to be a hoax or suggesting that Bin Laden was given up to make Obama look good, Pamela Geller has taken the unique approach of insisting that Obama didn't want to kill Bin Laden but couldn't avoid it.

During an appearance last week on VCY America's Crosstalk radio program, the ethnic cleansing enthusiast asked why Obama would have had Bin Laden killed if he supported jihad as Geller frequently alleges. Geller responded that Obama had no choice but to kill Bin Laden, albeit reluctantly, because "there was no getting around" it.

Except that Obama very easily could have gotten around it if he wanted to, seeing as bringing Bin Laden to justice required an unsanctioned covert operation into what was otherwise an allied nation.

Geller should have known this since Mitt Romney had endured a great deal of criticism during the 2012 campaign for implying, by being especially critical of an Obama statement of willingness to pursue high value targets across the Pakistani border, that he would not have given the order.

The facts speak for themselves, and the Religious Right's war against reality remains as futile as ever.
