Pamela Anderson opens up about sexual abuse: Video

Many people that hear the name Pamela Anderson immediately conjure up images of a sex symbol, a vivacious vixen, and Baywatch beach babe. But what many people do not know about this sexy starlet is that as easy as her life may seem to the world, she has lived a troubled life fraught with relationship troubles. This news was revealed at the Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France on May 18, when CTV News reported that she told the world she is a survivor of sexual abuse.

It is no secret that Canadian star Pamela Anderson has been a devout supporter of animal rights. So much so that she has launched her own animal rights foundation, the Pamela Anderson Foundation, which she launched and announced during the Cannes Film Festival this weekend according to the Globe and Mail and CTV. In a moving speech seen here in this video, Pamela told the world about how abuse early in her life left her with difficulties trusting others when it came to relationships, and that the foundation was to protect those less vulnerable and to fight for animal rights.

This weekend, when launching her foundation to support animal rights, the rights of victims that can't help themselves, Pamela spoke to the world about her own experiences as a victim. "I feel now might be the time to reveal some of my most painful memories."

And she did. Sadly, it was not just one incident that Pamela recounted to her captivated audience, but several. She discussed how a female babysitter took advantage of her from the age of 6 to the age of 10. Pamela also read transcripts from her online blog and diary where she recounted a raping at the house of a boyfriend at the age of 12.

"The boyfriend's older brother decided he would teach me backgammon, which led into a back massage, which led into rape. My first heterosexual experience."

And this second experience of abuse was also not her last. This Vancouver born starlet reported that several years later, she was gang raped by one of her boyfriends and six of his friends. "Needless to say I had a hard time trusting humans."

Several decades later, this Baywatch babe is now trusting the most vulnerable creatures on Earth, and lending her life to support their rights and needs. "My loyalty remained with the Animal Kingdom – I vowed to protect them, and only them."

The Pamela Anderson foundation is found online at the Pamela Anderson Foundation where supporters can read her diary, connect with Pamela via social media, and lend their thoughts and love. As stated on the Pamela Anderson Foundation website, the purpose of this foundation is to support the animals, and to "campaign for the vulnerable" and to "share the attention she gets".
