Pam Oliver, an NFL sideline reporter for Fox, was on the receiving end of a perfect spiral from Indianapolis Colts backup QB Chandler Harnish Sunday night. The only problem with her “catch” is that Oliver fielded the ball with the side of her face.
Yahoo! Sports on Aug. 18 carried Oliver’s tongue-in-cheek, or more appropriately, her football-in-cheek moment.
Sideline media members are always being bowled over by the big men tumbling out of bounds. How many times have we seen the dude with that odd parabolic satellite dish microphone get wiped out in a fray of arms and legs?
This time, Oliver had no warning. As she was preparing for an interview, Harnish’s wonky throw nailed her in the noggin. The always-professional Oliver laughed it off, and said she was not hurt.
Of course, the video of her getting greased in the side of the head with a football has been viewed countless times, so her pride may be smarting a bit at this point.
The stadium announcer caller her the “toughest person in the stadium.” As for Harnish? He apologized, gave Oliver a hug and promised to send flowers. No word on if any bouquets are immediately forthcoming.
