Masahrio Sakurai was very busy at E3 today as he not only introduced both Palutena and Miis as new characters, but he also finally gave a concrete release date for the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros 4.
Lady Palutena of the 'Kid Icarus' series will be making her playable debut in the Smash Bros. series once the newest installment of the game released on October 3, 2014. She first appeared in the Smash series as part of the Final Smash of Pit in Smash Bros. Brawl.
In the 'Kid Icarus' games Palutena is one of the main confidants of the main character, Pit. She bears the title "Goddess of Light" and acts as a guide and teacher to Pit throughout the story in the most recent 'Kid Icarus' game.
Sakurai was the head of a team that revitalized the 'Kid Icarus' series when he released the game 'Kid Icarus: Uprising' on the Nintendo 3DS. The game featured a ton of voice acting, especially with Palutena, so it is no surprise that she has been given such a vibrant personality once again.
Some of her attacks were introduced in the above video, but the thing that makers her the real deal is what seems to be her Final Smash. The attack involve sucking enemies into a black hole before taking them out with a laser. Pretty violent for the so called Goddess of Light.
Her power is certainly prominently featured in her gameplay video, so it should be fun to see just how much of a bruiser she is once the game is finally released. A lot of her fighting seems to be up close and her staff appears to be one of her primary weapons.
The introduction of Palutena gave us a look at character number 32 of the Smash Bros. 4 roster. Her inclusion was rumored way back in January, so her appearance at E3 today was not too much of a surprise for Smash fans that have been following closely.
