Palumbo's Pizza opened a few months ago, about 3 or 4 blocks from Tonawanda Jr/Sr High School. Located in a smallish building with a couple of tables and chairs, it's a great place for the kids to hang out after school and get a great slice of pizza for a great price.

Palumbo's started advertising "Home of the 50cent" slice in their window before they even opened. I was intrigued. Pappa's Pizza used t be at this location, and it didn't fare too well. Maybe because the prices were a bit too high. At first I didn't have a lot of hope for Palumbo's and then I started hearing good feedback.

My younger son came home from school one day and told me he and his friend had split a half tray pizza for about $5. HUH? This is the "Palumbo's Feature Pizza", Trusello-style. As their menu says, "Try this pizza - just once." It's a traditional old-fashioned pizza comprised of high-quality dough, high-quality sauce, a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, a sprinkle crushed dry basil and a sprinkle of crushed dry oregano. Simple, delicious and yes....only $3.99! There are about 10 to 12 good sized slices in this pizza, and it's delicious piping hot out of the oven or served cold the next day. This pizza evokes memories of my childhood and my great-grandmother's "every day pizza". Tastes similar and looks exactly like it. Molto Bene!

Palumbo's has a huge menu: everything from pizza, subs, wings, and fingers to mashed potato bowls, ribs, sandwiches, Stromboli, salads, burritos and tacos. They have it all, and it's all good and it's all very reasonably priced. They also have a fish fry available daily for $6.75.

Palumbo's is open Monday through Thursday from 10am until 10pm, Friday from 10am until 11pm, Saturday from 12pm until 11pm and Sunday from 12pm until 9pm. Cash only, no credit cards or checks. Their motto is, "Whatever you want, we got it or we'll get it with the best prices, anywhere. Thank you for shopping Palumbo's".
