L.A. is loaded with fantastic bars and restaurants. If traffic weren’t such a beast, many O.C. peeps would likely find themselves at one of these many establishments on any given night. If you happen to find yourself in Westwood, whether for work or pleasure, I suggest checking out Palomino for happy hour.
Upon entering, make a quick right into the bar and sink into one of the comfortable leather chairs. The rich woods, marble tables, recessed lighting and giant windows with views of Westwood, come together to create an atmosphere that is both elegant as well as cozy.
Cocktail specials include: The Basil Gimlet (my favorite), Whiskey Sour, Cranberry Mojito, Pomegranate Margarita and Candied Apple Drop all for $5.95. In typical L.A. fashion, all the cocktails listed above can be made skinny.
Although Palomino has a decent selection of beers, the Coors Light is the only one offered at the happy hour price of $4. The house Chardonnay and house Cabernet are offered at happy hour $4.95.
The bar specials for food is all day, every day. For $4.95 patrons of the bar can enjoy Moroccan Hummus and Tzatziki or the Pumpkin Seed Pesto. The French Onion Dip, Curried Chickpea Fritters and Truffled Deviled Eggs at offered at $5.95. Tomato-Basil Bruschetta and Brussels Sprouts & Pancetta are $6.95. Potatoes Gorgonzola and Sicilian Meatballs are $7.95. The Fresh Roma & Mozzarella Pizza is $8.95. The Crispy Calamari, Incredible Pepperoni Pizza and Hot Italian Sausage & Mushroom Pizza are $9.95. Finally, the Crab & Artichoke Dip is $10.95.
It is no secret that Westwood is great, but happy hour at Palomino just makes it all the better. Next time you find yourself in L.A. make a stop at Palomino in Westwood. Cheers.
