Palo Alto police release sketch of armed robbery suspect

Palo Alto police on Wednesday released a sketch of the suspect wanted in connection with last weekend’s armed robbery at an East Bayshore Road public storage facility.

The victim, an employee at the facility, called 911 on Saturday to report that an unknown suspect entered the business, produced a silver semi-automatic handgun, and held the victim at gunpoint. The suspect stole property from the victim and cash from the business before ordering the victim to the ground and fleeing on foot.

The victim did not see a vehicle associated with the suspect and was unharmed during the course of the robbery.

The suspect was described as a black man in his 20s and about 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black sweatshirt with the hood pulled up over his head, blue jeans, and dark gloves. The victim told police the suspect also had an inch-long growth of beard on his chin.

Palo Alto investigators are working to determine if this crime is connected to other street robberies that have occurred throughout the city in recent weeks.

Anyone with information on this case or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Palo Alto police at (650) 329-2413. Anonymous tips may be left by texting or calling (650) 383-8984.
