A Palo Alto liquor store was robbed at gunpoint over the weekend and Palo Alto police are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspects.
According to Palo Alto police, two men armed with handguns entered Century Liquors just before 8 p.m. on Saturday and absconded with alcohol and cash before fleeing on foot.
Despite assistance from a police canine unit out of Mountain View and a helicopter from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department, the suspects remain at large, according to authorities.
Preliminary investigation revealed the pair of suspects entered the store and demanded alcohol and cash from the clerk. Police say one of the men brandished a handgun at the clerk, who complied with the demands. The suspects placed 12 bottles of various types of alcohol into backpacks and fled out the front door with the liquor and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The victim described the masked suspects as being black men in their 20s, wearing black jackets and dark pants, and armed with semiautomatic weapons. One of the suspects was about six feet tall with a thin build and the other was about five-feet-10-inches tall. The victim told police he could see black skin around the eye holes in the suspects’ masks.
Police have been unable to obtain surveillance images of the crime but will release them should they become available.
