Palming unlimited restorative eye vision care

Leaving on a light at night, even as small as a nightlight at night can impair you from total rest and relaxation, the body needs complete dark to restore and repair the day’s damage and stress. There should be no light or as little light as possible allowed to enter the eye, even at sleep light comes through the thin skin of eyelids. The Bates Method of palming, discovered by Dr. Bates, is one way of correcting your vision and reducing eyestrain.

Palming is rest and relaxation for the eyes

Palming in a darkened room is the best way to start. Palming is to close your eyes and rest your palms over your eyes as to not cause pressure on the eyeball. Criss-crossing the fingers over each other in a manner that locks out all light. Open your eyes once palmed, to check if all light is gone from your sight.

Imperfect eye vision

No refractive vision disturbances are continuous. It would be impossible to keep with the prescription changes for the changes that can go on in your sight of vision. Disturbances in your vision are controlled by muscular action. The mind wants to see and therefore adapts to a variety of situations of stress within the body and outside of you, this makes the eyes tired. You have suffered from this to some extent if you already wear contacts or glasses from your eyes trying to adjust to sight while looking through new lenses, making the condition worse. The thing to do is to learn how to use the eyes correctly. Seeing from center focus of vision called central fixation, seeing from this point of view, the largest area all at once, the eyes refract normally and maximum vision happens. Eccentric fixation is concentrating on one small area and focusing outward to include the surrounding area.

The appearance of the eyeball shape is showing the effort of the muscles to see, their size is altered smaller or larger according to the stress, pain, discomfort of trying to adjust the eyes to see. In your younger years you may have noticed this expressed stress and strain as you get older you grow accustomed to the symptoms until they no longer are in the forefront of your daily perception and you adjust to it by using different prescriptions or taking aspirin for pain relief, or you may even think of it as another condition altogether that needs relieving.

Most people whose eye sight is not defective will look at two letters or two words at the same time. As they begin to look back and forth, trying to see it perfectly, it may become so difficult trying to see anything the person gives up and instead thinks they see nothing or the vision is blurred. Focusing on one letter or a portion of the letter and very slowly looking out to include more of the letter or word is one way of slowly training and correcting your vision. This training can produce eyestrain as your correct your vision, like “setting” your arm after it has been broken, it feels uncomfortable and takes time getting used to.

How long should you palm

There is not a set time limit, setting up a tranquility routine, palming without disturbance to find relaxation and restoration is the goal. Different people will find different amounts of time beneficial over time. How often should you palm? You can do one long palming session or what is called “mini-palms” throughout the day.

How do you feel

You may want to make palming journal entries to note how you feel during the sessions and what body sensations or healing takes place over time. There are many things you could notice, some you will notice within a day or to some changes over the length of time. Improving eyesight and reducing eye strain is just one of the many changes that will occur. It is the cornerstone to improving your vision resting your eyes from external light. Your palms resting on your eyes also draws attention and healing focus to the eye, restoring the eyes, mind, body and brain activation reaction to sunlight and absorption, this improves the health of the body, mind and soul.

1. Find a comfortable position, sitting up or laying down in a darkened room. Remove glasses or contacts.

2. Rub your hands together to generate warmth and stimulate energy.

3. Keep your spine and neck as straight as possible, loosely place your palms over eyes. Each consecutive time you practice, you will find a more comfortable way to place your hands to block out the lights and in resting your palms.

4. Breathe slowly and deeply allowing your diaphragm to fill with air and to release it.
