Detroit’s own Thornetta Davis will be the first performer to grace the stage during this season’s Palmer Woods Music in Homes series.

Davis will feature in a concert on Dec. 26. Known for her powerful voice, this Detroit Music Hall of Fame singer promises to please the crowd. On-hand will be renowned jazz guitarist A. Spencer Barefield and bassist Don Mayberry to help her deliver her unique style of Blues, jazz and R&B.

In its third year, Palmer Woods Music in Homes showcases Detroit’s jazz, classical and world-music artists in homes located throughout Detroit’s Palmer Woods neighborhood. This season’s line-up includes:

Dwight Adams Ensemble Mardi Gras Celebration, Saturday, Jan. 30, 8 p.m.

Lotus Ensemble with Joe Striplin, Velda Kelly, Rick Robinson & John Madison, Sunday, Feb. 28, 7 p.m.

Nadim Dlaikan’s Dearborn Traditional Ensemble, Saturday, March 27, 8 p.m.

Orquesta La Inspiracion, Saturday, April 24, 8 p.m.

Flutist Eric Lamb & Pianist Paul Vasile, Saturday, May 22, 8 p.m.

Tribute to Trumpet Masters with Rayse Biggs, Friday, June 25, 8 p.m.

Sax Virtuoso David McMurray, Saturday, June 26, 8 p.m.

Horn Master Wendell Harrison, Grand Finale, Sunday, June 27, 2 p.m.

Please note that the last three concerts — Jazz Fest in the Woods at the Frank Lloyd Wright home — on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 25, 26, 27, will feature the A. Spencer Barefield Trio with guests trumpeter Rayse Biggs (Friday), saxophonist David McMurray (Saturday) and saxophonist Wendell Harrison on Sunday for the grand finale. The Barefield Trio includes guitarist A. Spencer Barefield, bassist Dave Young and percussionist Djally Djakate Keita. Tickets can be purchased online at
