The Palmdale City Library will host a free winter craft program for kids ages 8 - 12 from 3 – 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14 at the Library, located at 700 E. Palmdale Blvd.

Participants will be able to make and take fun creations around a winter theme. This will be the first in a series of monthly craft events at the Library.

“Here’s a great way to help your kids start off the year creatively,” said crafting coordinator Karrie Ortiz. “It’s a free event that our young patrons and their families will love.”

Teens can explore the world of “what if” with the new book “Unwind” by Neal Shusterman.

The book club will meet at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Palmdale City Library to discuss the book so teens should pick up a copy now or download to a reading device and enjoy this futuristic tale.

“In a future world where those between the ages of thirteen and eighteen can have their lives ‘unwound’ and their body parts harvested for use by others, three teens go to extreme lengths to uphold their beliefs--and, perhaps, save their own lives,” said Youth Services Librarian Lani Revell. “This is a very thrilling book that should incite some very exciting debates.”

Cocoa, coffee and cookies are available during the club meeting which is free to teens ages 13 – 16.

The Palmdale City Library is open seven days a week.
