Palm Beach County student helps in Team Florida’s big 2014 NTAE win

Florida's Academic Excellence
Florida's Academic Excellence

Everyone should wake up each morning with a studious student’s approach to life as one willing and eager to learn and experience through observation and associations those aspects of intrigue which develops interest in the things we do. Enhancing ones knowledge in the scope of time makes for a form of vintage wisdom. A studious student works constantly in an application or effort, working diligently at a task always persevering with attentiveness.

In education, students are becoming primed when they meet and conquer challenges as Team Florida did when they won the 2014 National Tournament of Academic Excellence (NTAE) in the competition held recently at Walt Disney’s Contemporary Resort. In the final, the academic all-stars beat out teams from Pennsylvania and Oklahoma. Shreyash Agrawal, a senior at Suncoast High School was among the Florida team members, which included students from Seminole County, Leon County, Okaloosa County and Suwannee County.

The NTAE is a highly academic national high school competition. Each state’s team consists of six students and one coach. As many as six teams may compete against each other in one competition. Players are asked questions in the areas of mathematics, science, language arts, social studies, the fine arts, world languages (French and Spanish) and technology. The questions are written by educators from high schools and colleges throughout the nation.

PBC’s Shreyash Agrawal ( part of the Florida team) fellow Palm Beach County Academic Challenge Team members are Marc Rodriguez (Atlantic HS), Sam Bennett (Suncoast HS), Jorge Clavo (Spanish River HS), Sanjay Chandrasekhar (Suncoast HS), Michael Dinh (AW Dreyfoos SOA), Coach – Dr. Mary Murray (Suncoast HS).

Pride is no doubt shared by these worthy and successful students by their parents, schools and communities while we as a nation can behold with great adoration that the future is safe as long as we keep supporting our students, teachers and schools with daily enthusiasm to reach and obtain all goals; our minimum expectation is per quote, “Reach for the stars and maybe you will reach the ceiling” (quote from Karl Paul Reinhold Niebuhr an American Protestant theologian).

Team Florida’s members representing school districts across the state:

  • Shreyash Agrawal – The School District of Palm Beach County
  • Samuel Brenner –Seminole County Public Schools
  • Alex Chen – Seminole County Public Schools
  • Mike Fennema – Leon County Schools
  • Alex Gager – Okaloosa County School District
  • Matt Hendrick – Suwannee County Schools

Congrats to all.
