A source close to Palin told Real Clear Politics that Fox offered Palin a renewal contract, but that Palin “decided not to renew the arrangement,” opting instead to find other avenues to "[broaden] her message of common-sense conservatism across the country and ... [expand] her voice in the national discussion.”
Considering the fact that Palin's influence in the 2012 elections had a strong impact on the outcome of several key elections, Fox may have offered too little too late as an apology for deleting her from their RNC Convention coverage last August.
When the RNC announced a reduction in convention speeches from four nights to three, Fox decided to accommodate the reduced schedule by cancelling all of Palin's scheduled interviews, much to the disappointment of the popular Fox commentator and her legions of fans.
In hindsight, that decision may have cost them their contract with the highly influential Palin, whose endorsements during the past election were seen as pivotal in electing more conservative Republicans to positions of public office.
Take, for instance, Tea Party favorite Republican Ted Cruz, who was Palin's choice for the highly contested open Senate seat in Texas. RINO Gov. Perry had endorsed Republican Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, the establishment candidate preferred by the old guard GOP.
During the primary contest, a Public Policy Polling survey found that Perry’s support was actually hurting Dewhurst, while more Texas Republicans said that Palin's endorsement had led them to support the true conservative candidate, Ted Cruz, who ultimately beat Dewhurst and won the Senate seat.
“In every other state, Sarah Palin’s endorsement has been a game-changer,” Cruz told Texas on the Potomac.
Palin was instrumental in the landslide election of South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, a Tea Party candidate who had been slandered by the old-school GOP, until Sarah Palin came down to campaign at her side.
Palin also backed little-known Nebraska state Senator Deb Fischer, who beat the well-known, well-funded rival to become the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate in Nebraska, and then went on to win the Senate seat away from the Democrats.
Governor Palin is no slouch in the "hard-work-builds-conservatives" movement: she is virtually rebuilding conservatism in America, one political candidate at a time.
Fox News's regrettable decision to limit Palin's interviews during the RNC Convention may have cost them a lucrative contract with this highly influential and persuasive champion of the conservative cause. Conservatives will be anxious to see which network has the moxie to invite Palin to join their ranks, now that she has given Fox the boot.
