Palin's hunting gimmick shoots her in the....foot!

In a move that the nation is now protesting, ex-governor and Vice Presidental candidate, Sarah Palin, is taking the heat for her hunting and shooting of a caribou on her TLC show, Sarah Palin's Alaska.

The graphic killing appeared to all the world as exactly what is was, a gimmick to put Palin in a particular light; that of a savvy hunter.  The ploy backfired and shot her in the...foot!  Overwhelmingly, viewers have protested her controversial shooting of the animal, even those who are Palin supporters.

Palin's response came via her Facebook page, "Tonight’s hunting episode of Sarah Palin’s Alaska ‘controversial’? Really? Unless you’ve never worn leather shoes, sat upon a leather couch or eaten a piece of meat, save your condemnation of tonight’s episode. I remain proudly intolerant of anti-hunting hypocrisy." (TimesUnion.com)

While Palin has a small point in her corner, it doesn't void the condemnation by shocked viewers.  Palin's point is that she is shooting the animal to eat and clothe herself and her family.  To quote the quoter, "Really, Sarah?  You're so poor that you have to resort to killing animals (at a cost of over $40,000 for the episode), to feed and clothe your clan?  One wonders what Mr. Sarah Palin does in this skewed, role-reversed family?  She apparently 'brings home the bacon'.  Guess ole Todd 'fries it up in a pan'?

PETA has come out swinging at Palin and her show.  Vice President Dan Mathews released a statement to Fancast sharing his thoughts."Sarah seems to think that resorting to violence and blood and guts may lure people into watching her boring show. But the Ratings remain as dead as the poor Animals she shoots," (Source: CelebriFi)

Hollywood heavyweight producer, Aaron Sorkin was so incensed, he used time slated to market his movie, The Social Network, to condemn Palin, calling her a "remarkably, stunningly, jaw-droppingly incompetent and mean woman." (Politics Daily)

The point is simple.  It is not that people don't know or understand where their food and such comes from; it's that unnecessary violence and killing of animals is, and always will be, cruel and inhumane.  Palin didn't need to kill a caribou to feed and clothe her family.  To say such is insulting to the intelligence of every single viewer.  She killed for two reason; fun and political gain.  She has hit an all-time low with this sick stunt.  The animal died for Palin's politcal ambitions and greed, and no other reason. The hunter in the woods that killed Bambi's mother?.... is Sarah Palin.

Her image is shot just as surely as that caribou.

If you feel that TLC Channel (Discovery Communications) should drop Sarah Palin's Alaska from its lineup immediately, and be in support of ending, not condoning animal cruelty, call or fax one or all of these individuals today.

Really? You guys think that killing an animal with a gun is inhumane? What about a bolt striking them in the head (which doesn't necessarily DO anything) and then while still alive they get their throats slit? That' more humane? I'd ratherbe shot then be knocked around then bled to death. I guess the writer of this article is a vegan? Otherwise the point is invalid. If you wear animal products or eat meat, you can't be against killing. It doesn't work that way. So what if she doesn't NEED to kill the animal? An animal will die to feed her family either way, and caribou is better for you than beef and tastier. Who cares what someone does when they are legally allowed to do it? Hunting has valid purpose; to feed and clothe people as well as control animal populations. The populations of, for instance, black bears in NJ is so large they are entering people's homes and killing their pets and livestock. What's next, they are going to start killing people? You bet. The further we encroach on their natural environments with our developments and mini malls, the more contact we will have until the numbers decline. Either they will do whatever they need to in order to survive, or they will starve to death. Do you want people killed and animals to suffer? Maybe that's why there was a bear hunt this year in NJ. Touche!

Just had to say that you are a typical hunter type. I am a staunch republican and yet I am a member of PETA. I am not a hypocrite. I really like Sarah Palin and hate all the awful smears on hers and her familys character. I hate hunting. I see no reason for it and I hated that she kills animals on her show. It made me sick seeing all those fish that were caught and killed to be sold in a store. I know that all the fish don't get bought and go to waste. Those fish were still alive in that container. I saw them breathing and eyes blinking. Even my husband said "Why does she have to show killing animals all the time" Why can't she show the beauty of Alaska. That is what the show is supposed to be about. I don't want people or animals to suffer, and if people would stop encroaching on animals territory, they wouldn't be in danger from bears or anything else. Yeah, you said it, either they will will do whatever they need to in order to survive or they will starve to death. Well, they are God's creatures and He cares about them as well as He cares about you and sometimes people will die if they don't respect the animals territories and places where they dwell. It is bad enough that animals like cows and sheep and goats are killed to feed the masses, but you don't need to kill the wild animals. The natural way is to not kill the predators animals and the predator animals will take care of the overpopulation of animals. Man does not need to manage and kill them so they don't starve. They can take care of themselves.

We are definitely in the midst of the butt-hurt and overly-sensitive. Hunting is legal in the United States. If you don't like the fact that people engage in it as a hobby then change the law, but don't use it as yet another excuse to continue the witch hunt against Sarah Palin and everyone else who enjoys participating in it. Honestly. It's ridiculous.

I am against making animals suffer for our meat, for our hunting pleasure, etc. I am not against humanely raising livestock and humane slaughter of meat animals. I'm not against hunting responsibly, which means making sure the animals don't suffer.
I am adamantly, vociferously and forever against PETA. Until PETA stops slaughtering healthy, adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens by the thousands, they ought to shut the hell up. If hunting needs to be opposed, a group with some actual credibility needs to step up and do that.
