Left, your brain on Sarah-speak; right: Newt-speak. (USDA photo)
I’ve finally got it: Sarah Palin and her partner-in-idiocy, Newt Gingrich, are flapping their gums about a “death panel” supposedly incorporated in health care reform to deflect attention from investigations of the “death panel” of Mr. Bush, otherwise known as the CIA, Blackwater, Halliburton and god knows who or what else. If these two unethical political has-been/wannabes can get the country riled up over something that’s never going to happen (because it is a figment of their own DNA-challenged imaginations), then perhaps we won’t get riled up over the darkest period on our national history, when goons reporting to a bozo had free rein to round up, rough up and even murder people in the name of Dick Cheney’s paranoia, and the greed of the already handsomely overpaid captains of industry who buddied up to the Smirking Chimp.
(Did you know American CEOs earn 475 times what their lowest paid employee earns? So if one assumes companies are paying the lowest-paid employee $22K a year ?let’s say a non-union doorman ? the CEO is making $1,045,000. Further, that CEOs got extra cash in hand because of the Smirking Chimp’s tax relief for the unconscionably wealthy, tax relief that came out of either middle-class pockets or the economy as a whole or both. Do not confuse the “incentives” we got with the elephantine boatloads of cash the wealthiest one-percent got via their tax cut. The $300 to $600 payments were laughable. Indeed, even a one-percent tax cut on middle-class incomes is laughable. However, on the incomes of the wealthiest one percent of Americans, its bankable, spendable and usable to lobby even more goodies from the cowardly politicians. To make it perfectly clear, the CEO above would have gotten an extra $10,000-plus in a one-percent tax cut. What was the real tax cut? Much worse than my example. According to the New York Times:
Households in the top 1 percent of earnings, which had an average income of $1.25 million, saw their effective individual tax rates drop to 19.6 percent in 2004 from 24.2 percent in 2000. The rate cut was twice as deep as for middle-income families, and it translated to an average tax cut of almost $58,000.” (emphasis mine)
Do the top one-percent love Dubya? You betcha.
But, back to Pain and Gangrene…
It gives one furiously to think, as Agatha Christie’s little fictional detective, Hercule Poirot, would have put it: Why would Gangrene jump on Pain’s bandwagon now?
Perhaps because he wanted to say, “The bill is a thousand pages of setting up mechanisms. You are asking us to trust turning power over to the government, when there are clearly people in America who believe in establishing euthanasia, including selective standards,” as quoted on Huffington Post.
I wonder who those people might be. Probably NOT Barack Obama, who comes from a long line of people effectively euthanized via the slave trade. Probably not Holder; ditto. Probably not Sonia Sotomayor; ditto. Who, then?
Ah, this might well be another case of the smeller is the feller. (Add reference)
Who, recently, has engaged in various forms of “euthanasia”? One might consider this Bush-Regime incident to be a form of euthanasia; in one incident, US government operatives doused a suspected terrorism detainee with cold water and left him overnight in frigid temperatures, where he died. I understand freezing to death is one of the more pleasant ways to go. But of course, he didn’t want to be euthanized at all, and the US had no excuse ? none at all ? for taking his life. He hadn’t even been convicted of anything. He was merely being questioned. But he was a member of a subset of humans undesirable to the Bush Regime: Arabs/Muslims/Anyone-who-didn’t-grow-up-white-in-small-town-America-and-keep-their-yap-shut. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if some of the long-term detainees, deprived of liberty without due process and incarcerated without conviction, would consider euthanasia to be better than an eternity of legal limbo on a tropical island run by one dictator and borrowed for eight years by a dictator-wannabe.
In the case of Palin worrying so publicly and on Facebook whether her son Trig would be euthanized, has anyone considered that it might be a case of the lady doth protest too much? No one but Palin, as far as I can tell, has had the first inkling of wanting to euthanize mentally or physically challenged babies. On the contrary, the health care bill is about getting care for ALL mentally and physically handicapped children, not just those born to college-dropout-wannabes who found a state small enough and cold enough to be able to pull the wool over their eyes, get elected, and proceed to fleece them and anyone else she could grab hold of.
In the case of Newt, I would suggest it’s a case of latching onto the coattails of a good-looking woman whom he thinks appeals to his former constituency. One might say something like, “Hey, Newt. Man up!” But that would be crass. Not unethical, but crass.
Unethical is the well-financed lying to derail solutions to an issue that plagues the United States virtually alone among the most developed nations of the world. Unethical is flinging outright lies at the public and other politicians in order to unfairly win at the game of government, which in this case is unfortunately also the game of life itself for the 47 million without health care. But then, Pain and Gangrene had good teachers in the contagion of bad politics and the ills of inexcusable governance during the eight-year course in Lying, Excusing, Deflecting and Terminating with Extreme Prejudice at the Bush-Cheney Wingnut Academy in DC.

Comments
The proposed healthcare "reform" is not reform -- it is an unprecedented expansion of government power at the expense of the citizens' liberty, health, and very lives. Obamacare is designed to control every aspect of our lives and to justify further intrusions.
If we give up our liberty to Obama's thugs, we will perish as a civil society. Obama must be stopped at any cost or we will join the slaves of other communist countries.
The proposals call for cutting $500,000,000,000 from Medicare in order to pay for free healthcare for illegal aliens, sex change operations, and murdering babies. Abortion is already the leading cause of death in the United States. We do not need the government paying for even more murders.
How do you cut $500,000,000,000 from Medicare? Somebody is going to die! You have to kill a lot of old people and disabled citizens to cut $500,000,000,000.
God help us to be strong and wise.
I think it is ironic that the side bar states: "Hateful, unfounded attacks on groups of individuals will be deleted." Did anyone consider applying that standard to this column?
I agree we need changes, but have your read the entire HB 3200 proposal? I am trying to read and make sense, but for now I see wording that will put a politician or some appointee in a position to make health care decisions for each of us. Some of this is very clearly going the wrong way. And I think too much goverment is not a good idea.
You weren't actually expecting these two bozos to be honest were you? Seriously, just let these idiots keep prattling on. They've already lost all credibility with the American people, and the more they talk, the more they turn us against them.
You may think that all the clever name calling, makes you a "writer" in some sense. It actually discredits whatever points you are attempting to make. Simply calling people names, who in this case are your intellectual superiors, does not support any position you may be trying to take on a subject. It elevates their side of the argument 'cause you haven't factually disproved what they are saying. Perhaps another hobby would suit you better...
Fantastic write up Laura! Couldn't have said it better myself.
Encore!
I find this article offensive and not fit to print. Her complete lack of objectiveness and ability to make a point without personal attacks and trying to bash these two individuals with what may or may not have occurred during the Bush administration is beyond belief. She is without character for using innuendo as fact when unproven is the lowest form of journalism found.
I never wish to see this person published in my home state newspaper again.
Laura, Obama-byn-lynin's next program is "greenbacks for grannies" according to John Stewart. Check it out, you're no spring chicken.
Government run Health Care from Canada.

Does the Examiner have any concept of editorial integrity. Not only is this opinion scatterbrained and banal, it reeks of the worst Democratic insestual ignorance. Does the fact that nearly everyone Obama appoints to office is a crook fall on deaf ears? Do fanciful flights into nonexistant history pass as serious debate. The author makes herself out to be a fool, and the Examiner should be ashamed of the impossibly low standard that has been set for its editorialists.
If 2son thinks Palin & Gangrene are intellectual superiors to the rest of us then 2son is a ignoreanus (not only dumb but a A__H___to boot).
Sarah Palin is an idiot. Whenever I heart her name I stop listening.
3ms, It takes a special kind of fool to spell ignoranus wrong. If you are going to lift from the Washington Post, at least spell it correctly. As for this article, highly entertaining to see left of left-wing hacks like this go off the deep end. Please keep articles like this coming, so we can see how ill-informed and depraved you are.
Check to word and the defination if you can't figure it out the you must be a GOP party member with a IQ of under 2.
Shane: My comments are not hateful and unfounded. You might notice that I generally provide links to sources. As for hateful, I don't hate Sarah Palin or Newt Gingrich...but as they are politicians (albeit unemployed ones at the moment), when they spew vitriol, they are asking for some in return. I'm only too happy, frankly, to provide it, as I cannot ethically sit idly by while those whose greed and insularity exceed their IQs attempt to influence the course of government through lying and inciting riots.
There is, what, maybe 3 billion a day in profits flowing to the health insurance industry?
Anyone who thinks anyone is going to be allowed to spill gravy off that train is delusional. Tools to the left of me, tools to the right. Schtuck in the middle again.
D. Douglas Evans: Apparently you are not aware that Mr. Stewart is a comedian, and his "greenbacks for grannies" was a tongue in cheek swipe at the "cash for clunkers" program. (BTW, England has a similar auto buy-back program; same reason -- to jump start the economy.) As for my age, I was never a spring chicken. I was born older and smarter than you'll ever be. Thanks for the compliment.
Oh, and HaHasaidtheclown , while you are upbraiding 3ms on the spelling of ignoranus, please note that it is, in fact, spelled ignoraMus. moron.
The article was sooo true and I had to laugh when I read it. Sadly, politicians like this have to try and do SOMETHING to try and put themselves in the spotlight, especially since all that repubblicans seem to be able to do it whine, moan, and scream how awful every new program or proposal is. Oddly enough, these problems were all ready and available when W was in office and yet, no republican came forward with any viable solutions. Just as W ran this country into tremendous debt for a war, no republican has a single word to say, now that we are using money to bail out THE US, everyone is up in arms.. Seems a little two faced to me.
Laura, you like so many "writers of muck and mire" have not an honest clue about what you are even writing about. You write a lot of jibberish and throw in various personal attacks against Republicans and anyone else who happens to live in the real world, and you call it journalism. It would be wiser of you to research your "facts," instead of following the pack of the misimformed. Have you even read the Health Care Reform proposal?
I love this article and the illustration! You are the one of the most creative, intelligent and savvy writers on this site. Unfortunately, the cranks don't know what's going so they are offended by what is actually the truth. We all should be offended by the devious deeds of Bush & Co. and the continuation of these practices by Pain and Gangrene! Pure evil!
Palin was trying to euthanize her own son by taking a long flight shortly before his birth. Most pregnant women know that this is dangerous to the fetus and not to fly in the last trimester. Surely she did know and I find her actions disgusting. She's also shirking her responsibility to her family. The country doesn't need to listen to her senseless prattle. She's old enough to know how to use birth control.
Maureen O'Day: What a marvelous insight you have offered. Not having had children myself, I wouldn't have thought of that about flying. But of course, you are right. Thanks again.
Joann: Thank you. I am honored.
Thank you! I m appalled by Palin's FB comment. She is an ignorant opportunist plain and simple. I wish her followers would wake up and see the truth.
Sarah Palin is absolutely correct on the issue. She is brilliant, a natural leader.
Wow...this article is just one big example of hysterical Palin-Derangement Syndrome. Let me address some of the garbage in this hate-rant. 80% of Down's Syndrome babies are killed through abortion...is that not a form of euthansia? Sarah Palin is not a college drop-out (she spent six years working on her degree because she had to quit when her money for tuition ran out; she'd work blue-collar jobs to raise more money to fund her way through.)
Math correction. If the doorman made $22,000, that times 475 is $10,475,000. And, as a point of interest, the CEO's tax cut based on 24.2% to 19.6%, is $480,700/year. With a loan multiplier of 12, it would have supported $5,768,400 in bank loans/year, in case you were wondering where all the gas came from to set the mortgage system on fire. After 6 years, it becomes $34,610,000, from the tax cuts of a single CEO. As a point of interest, we (through our govenment) borrowed every penny of that tax cut. So,if the CEO had just loaned it back to us by buying bonds, we would owe him an additional $124,982, for the rest of eternity. That's a pretty good tax cut. If it expires in 2009, with a total cut of $1.3 trillion, the cost per year for eternity becomes $42.25 billion, which you and your children's children will owe.
Eric: Thank you, both for the math correction (I think it was right at some point on my screen, but cyberspace....) But thank you. And thank you for all the rest of it. Frightening. And a lot more math than this "word person" is comfortable doing. I wish you could do the math for all my stuff!
Susan: I don't think I said she was a college drop-out. I think I said she was a college drop-out wannabe. Big difference. As I understand it, she also went from school to school, which is not explained by her working to pay her way, unless she couldn't find a local blue-collar job where she was. No matter how you slice it, the lady is not a scholar, and as far as I'm concerned, we have had quite enough bottom-of-the-class leaders in this country of late...which is one reason Mr. Obama is so significant. We finally voted for a brain instead of a bumpkin.
Randy Thorpe: Palin was not speaking to an issue. She was speaking to paranoia from a position of ignorance. No, not igonorance: dishonesty. Her comments concern something that just plain does not exist...and if she doesn't know it, then she'd too stupid to be in office anyway. So she's either a fool or a knave, or both.
Of course, it wasn't mentioned in the column, but since Palin used one of her kids, again, as media fodder and as a jumping off place for more lies, she put it into play. I have not, in any election since 1968, seen any candidate trot out his or her children and expose them to the media the way she has. It is disgusting, filthy even, and completely unconscionable. I wouldn't do it to my dog, nor would most decent people.
Palin Coprolalia: Rotten Mouth Insult Compulsion
Here she goes again. Sarah Palin manifests another symptom of her Tourette Syndrome besides the winky eye-tic -- this time an involuntary outburst of crap mouth diarrhea. She can't help it -- it's a well known mental disease, Coprolalia, a compulsion which forces her to sprinkle foul insulting statements in every paragraph.
Palin is unable to articulate issues in a strait-forward way, just stating facts and linking them to credible sources. Innuendo works for her. "Just making stuff up" works for her. (Hint to Palin: people see your lies -- google the following headline.)
Palin + Civility equals Lies + Speechwriter
Know1: Wow, great word! Thanks.
I thought you wrote about ETHICS, not about personal opinion......or is that your form of ethics?
Your article leaves much to be desired as far as ethics go. Oh, but wait, what am I thinking, you have none, you're just a liberal hack!
