According to the New York Mag on Nov. 4, 2013, they stated that Paleo followers are doing the diet all wrong. Paleo followers claim to be eating just as caveman, in prehistoric times; however, caveman did not have some of the foods we have today.
Paleo eaters are getting some points right, too. No one is saying that Paleo is not a healthy way to eat. They eat fish, meats, eggs, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. How could this diet be wrong, when they omit almost all processed foods?
According to Men Health, who stated that Paleo junk foods like pancakes, breads and sweet treats were not part of our ancestors’ diet? Caveman did not eat like we are used to eating. They wouldn’t eat a steak or chicken breast. What they would do is roast an animal on its back, with the blood and juices from the inside cooking with the meat. The first part of the meal would have been the actual broth from the animal. They would drink it, and it was said to taste much like a broth based beef, tasty huh. Next, they would eat the stomach of the animal. That is partially eaten contents. This way of eating is a far cry from the coffee drinking, chicken breast eating with a plate full of delicious veggies Paleo eater.
Lastly, the one staple of the actual caveman diet that cannot be ignored is honey. Why is this worth noting? Paleo discourages all sugar, however, is honey not a sugar?
What do you think about the real diet of the caveman? Do you think modern day primal eaters compare?
