Pakistani baby attempted murder: 9-month-old arrested for attempted murder

A Pakistani baby was arrested for attempted murder and subsequently released on bail. On April 4, Yahoo! News reported that 9-month-old Mohammad Musa was booked along with his family for "throwing rocks at gas company officials." The baby went to court where he was seen crying and drinking a bottle (which isn't uncommon for babies).

"Everyone in the court was saying 'How can such a small child be implicated in any case'? What kind of police do we have?" said the child's 50-year-old grandfather, Muhammad Yasin. Even still, the child was charged and will face the consequences even though he had no clue what he was doing during the rock throwing incident.

The Pakistani baby charged with attempted murder is innocent and most people would agree with that. However, authorities are taking the case "seriously" and aren't listening to anyone who feels that the charges are inappropriate. It is unclear what will happen if the baby is convicted or what fate he might face.

"The court should have simply referred the minor's case to the High Court to drop the charges against the innocent child and acquit him from the case. This case also exposes the incompetence of our police force and the way they are operating," said lawyer Chaudhry Irfan Sadiq.
