Pakistan chief judge is henchmen of military, says Christian editor

A Pakistani Christain editor and human rights activist has said the chief justice of Pakistan is a henchman of Pakistani amry and that is the reason he does not take any notice of the killings of Baloch and Christians in Pakistan.

Pakistan chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, a resident of Quetta Balochistan, has looked the other way on atrocites being committed on national and religious minorities in Pakistan but is siding with Pakistan armyand Inter-Services Intelligence.

"Why Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan did not took Suo Motto notice of killing of Baloch and Christians in Pakistan? ," Dr Nazir Bhatti, editor of the Pakistan ChristianPost and chief of the Pakistan Christian Congress asked in an artilce published in the Post.

"The secret was revealed in press after his restoration that his restoration was due to General Ashfaq Kayani, chief of Pakistan army not Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani. When ISI is behind killing of Christian federal minority minister Shahbaz Bhatti and Baloch youth, so how can he (chief judge) move against Pakistan Army to check their atrocities."

As many as 350 Baloch political activists were disappeared, tortured, killed execution style and their bodies dumped in the wilderness of Balochistan by Pakistan secret services since July 2010.

Pakistan's blasphemy law has been used to relegate Christians, Hindus and others minorities to the status of third class citizens. These minorities are routinely targeted in the Islamic republic of Pakistan but the culprits are never brought to justice.

Bhatti's article is highly critical of Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry inaction on the human rights front and his controversial role to put the civilian govenment on the mat at a time it was trying to check the military control on the politics of the South Asian nation.
