Skier alert: There’s a new après ski shoe in town. Appropriately called Pakems, they weigh just 15-ounces and are ideal for tucking into your backpack before you head for the slopes. When it’s time for lunch or happy hour, take off your stiff, plastic boots, put on your cozy, flexible Pakems and your feet will feel like they’ve found nirvana.
Pakems are the brainchild of Julie Adams, a one-time employment attorney. Tired of wearing ski boots while lugging not just her gear but her son’s as well she came up with the idea for the feel-good footwear.
Pakems are water resistant, have rubber soles for traction and are as comfy as your favorite house slippers. They come in a fashionable high top ($70) and a sensible low top ($60). A custom-made bag to pack them in is available for $12.
Also, keep in mind Pakems are good for more than just après ski. Wear them before and after other sports and, if you‘re flying home for the holidays, put them on before takeoff.
