Yesterday, June 21, 2014,Bensalem Police made two arrests from a fatal auto pedestrian accident that happened the day before,on the 20th. Melissa Rasiul ,Bensalem police allege, was behind the wheel of a pick up truck that struck and killed Vince Peary,of Philadelphia. The vehicle, then fled from the scene without stopping.

Peary was pronounced dead. The accident happened on the 4100 block of Bristol Pike, near the Bristol Twp.border. Bensalem Police were left with parts of the vehicle and a description but nothing more. They received a credible tip that led them to the 700 block of Bridgewater Rd., which is less than a mile from the crash scene. There, they found the pickup truck which had been cleaned and the license tag removed.

After an investigation it was determined that this was indeed the vehicle involved and police made the arrest. Also arrested was Steven Pagano, from the same household . He was charged with tampering with evidence . Both were jailed under $750,000 bail for Rasiul and $75,000 for Pagano. Rasiul is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death or injury. It was determined that she had a suspended drivers license (which is probably why she ran). She is charged with that as well. Pagano is charged with tampering with evidence, for the removal of the plate and washing the truck.

Neighbors and passes by who were on the 700 block of Bridgewater Rd. yesterday saw police tape off a house and were wondering what was going on. Some people kept walking but surly, the neighbors were wondering what was going on.
