It is at this time of year that many of today’s international artists who belong to the Painter’s International Group are busy working away preparing pieces to exchange with other international artists from around the world. This exchange has been happening for many years and provides the artists the opportunity to see what other international artists are working on, plus provides these artists the change to share something they love with each other.
As part of the rules, each international receives three mailing addresses for other international artists around the world and must paint one painting, 8” x 10”, for each of the artists on the list they receive. These painting must be completed and in the mail by the deadline date specified on the list and each artist who paints a outgoing picture must sign the piece and provide a little history about them and their work.
This year’s exchange is taking place in May and many of the artists are just now finishing the pieces they are planning to exchange, as many work in oil and it needs a longer period to dry. Subject in this exchange are varied, as are mediums, as the decision on what to create and what medium used, is entirely up to the artisan.
If you are an international artist and would like to participate in next year’s competition, send an email to Rose, as she is the one who is responsible for organizing and distributing the lists. Rose_nl_99@yahoo.com
This exchange is a wonderful cultural experience for all artists and who knows, one day, one of the artists you have exchanged a painting with might become famous! You will already own one of their originals...what a great opportunity.
