Turning tippling into art, San Luis Obispo’s Granada Hotel & Bistro added an Art Bar to its inviting amenities. Featuring music and $5 glasses of wine, the bar , which is open Thursday through Saturday nights from 7 to 9 p.m., was created to celebrate California’s central coast’s vibrant wines and artistic spirit. During those hour guests are treated to a free glass of wine during a painting class ($40) led by a local artist, who selects a work of their own and teaches attendees how to paint it.
To fuel mind and body, cheese and meats/charcuterie are wheeled around for purchase. The experience is highlighted by music playlists, which are selected by the artist as inspiration for the work being painted.
The gracious Granada Hotel & Bistro, the only modern boutique hotel in San Luis Obispo, is housed in an original 1920’s exposed-brick building. There are 17 uniquely designed rooms and suites, the city’s first rooftop lounge and the illustrious Granada Bistro, located at the heart of the hotel. Charming interiors are accented with original artwork, vintage furniture, antique Persian rugs and clever peek-a-boo accents creating an element of romantic mystery.
Additional hotel amenities include complimentary bicycles equipped with maps and itineraries, free VIP wine tastings at the nearby and eco-conscious Tolosa Vineyard, and a range of Ayurveda-inspired treatments in the hotel’s cozy spa.
