During the March 3 episode of ProWMMA Now!, Team Alpha Male standout Paige "12 Gauge" VanZant (3-1) told show host Gina Begley that she would like to be on Anthony Pettis' team during the TUF 20 filming because she thinks he's cute.
Pettis, as most UFC fans know by now, will be coaching opposite Gilbert Melendez on TUF 20, a season featuring 16 female strawweights competing for the UFC's inaugural 115-pound title.
VanZant wants to be part of Pettis' team not necessarily because of his coaching style, but due to his model-esque good looks.
Honestly coaching-wise I don't have a preference, but I did post on Twitter that I'd rather be on Anthony Pettis' team because he's really cute.
Later in VanZant's interview with Begley, she was informed that Pettis is involved in a long-term, serious relationship and that he has a daughter.
With that said, her attention quickly shifted to Pettis' younger brother, Sergio.
As luck would have it, Sergio Pettis is very close in age to VanZant.
"12 Gauge" is just 19 years old, while Pettis is 20.
Sergio also happens to be a UFC fighter, and he has some similar physical characteristics to his older brother.
"I think it could be a first," VanZant said when asked if she thought she might make history by becoming the first athlete to make a love connection on the long-running reality show.
TUF 20 starts filming in a matter of months, and the first episode is expected to air in September.
Will Paige VanZant find love in a hopeless place? Time will tell how the situation plays out, and the only way for fight fans to find out is by tuning in.
