Facebook pages have begun sprouting up about former LAPD officer and Navy reservist Christopher Dorner, who is accused of killing a young engaged couple as well as killing one police officer and critically wounding another. Some are -- as you might expect -- pages designed to encourage users to aid authorities in his capture. Others, though, are fan pages, in support of Dorner and his actions, including one with nearly 2,000 likes that went live on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. PST.
Most -- if not all -- of the pages that can be found by searching for Dorner's name in Facebook appear to have been created on Thursday, or Wednesday at the earliest.
The one with close to 2,000 likes is titled, simply, "Christopher Jordan Dorner." Its About page says the following:
A man with morals and a hero. A real rebel with a cause! This man is standing up for a cause he will be remembered. Hes trying to stop corruption. Have respect for a man who is willing to die for something instead of living for nothing.
Another, titled "I Support Christopher Jordan Dorner," was created on Wednesday and says the following on its About page:
This is not a page about supporting the killing of innocent people. It's supporting fighting back against corrupt cops and bringing to light what they do.
Another, titled "Christopher Dorner," doesn't have an About page. It does, however, say the following in its only post:
Follow me against an unjust system
Another, with the same title as the above, says on its About page:
Currently wanted by law enforcement.
Currently the only one of us standing up for ourselves against the largest gang in America.
It then links to an unredacted PDF file containing Dorner's manifesto.
In addition to the fan pages, there are negative Facebook pages, as well. For example, one titled Christopher Jordan Dorner says:
[Dorner] is a crooked former cop who never wore the badge with honor, courage, and commitment...is a murderer and will meet the devil soon!! He is a disgrace to mankind and the biggest coward out there. He has contributed nothing to society!!!
Dorner is accused of killing Monica Quan and her fiance, Keith Lawrence, who were found shot in their car at a parking structure at their condominium in Irvine, Calif. He is also accused of killing one police officer and wounding another in an ambush in Riverside, Calif. He is currently still on the run.
