The world famous Pageant of the Masters will hold auditions for the 2010 cast as well as sign-ups for make-up artists and other backstage volunteer positions next week at the Irvine Bowl in Laguna Beach.
Pageant of the Masters is an intricate show in which famous paintings are brought to life on stage each summer. This year's theme is "Eat, Drink, and be Merry," and coordinators are searching for all ages, sizes, shapes, and ethnicities for the volunteer cast.
Though all cast members are volunteers, many other benefits are gained if you are one of the lucky few selected to be in the cast. Chelsea Coronado, who was selected as a cast member in 2005 and 2008, said she has made life-long friendships with other cast members.
"Everyone selected for the show is interesting and you truly become bonded. I've met hedge-fund managers, school teachers, artists, and other students my age. The most interesting cast members are those who have been selected for many years in a row. Their stories about past shows are hilarious," she said.
All auditions will be held on the Main Stage at the Irvine Bowl located at 650 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach, CA 92651. Each volunteer will be asked to fill out a profile form and will be photographed and measured from head to foot for casting purposes. The casting call and volunteer sign up times are as follows:
Saturday, January 9, 2010 from 7-9 p.m.
Sunday, January 10, 2010 from 2-5 p.m.
Thursday, January 14, 2010 from 7-9 p.m.
