Pagans have concerns over the U.S. air-drop of toxic mice in Guam

Pagan communities across the country have concerns over what is about to happen at the Andersen Air Force Base in Guam dead mice that have been laced with painkillers are about to be dropped on Guam's jungle canopy. The mice are being dropped in an attempt to down size the population of the brown tree snake. This snake has caused a tragedy in Guam as most of their native bird species are extinct due to the snake, which is not a native of the country and had been brought to the island by stowing away on U.S. military ships shortly after World War II.

Its estimated that there are two million of the snakes on Guam today and have decimated the wildlife, bitten residents and even caused power outages by climbing onto power lines. Human impact on the earth is and has always been a concern for Pagans as many refer to the earth as our Mother. Many Pagans and other earth conscientious individuals are very concerned that other animals may eat these poisoned mice as well and die. It’s really not possible to say that only the brown snakes will eat them or that any of the snakes will eat them as most snakes will only eat live moving prey.

The possibility of native wildlife in the area eating these mice is very high, not to mention the pollution that could be caused by the poisoned rodents that fall into water or that are not eaten and decompose. This air-drop maybe well intended but it does not seem responsible to potentially kill additional animals.
