PacSun t-shirts: Offended Utah mom buys all of store's 'indecent' shirts

An offended mother in Utah wasn't going to just sit back or walk by as a PacSun store sold t-shirts that she considered to be "indecent." The NY Daily News reported on Feb. 18, 2014, that Judy Cox didn't want children to see those PacSun t-shirts in the store so she decided to buy all of them.

Judy Cox was shopping this past weekend at then University Mall with her 18-year-old son when she saw some t-shirts in the display window of PacSun. Offended by the scantily dressed models in provocative poses on them, she complained to the store manager.

The PacSun manager told Cox that the shirts could not be removed from the window without corporate office approval.

That was when Cox took matters into her own hands. She proceeded to buy all 19 of the PacSun t-shirts in stock for a grand total of $567. Each shirt cost an average of about $28, but that wasn't going to stop this persistent mother.

"These shirts clearly cross a boundary that is continually being pushed on our children in images on the Internet, television and when our families shop in the mall," Cox said in an email to The Associated Press.

PacSun has a 60-day return policy for t-shirts and other items, and Cox plans to take advantage of it. She said she will end up returning the shirts before that time period is up.

Employees at the PacSun store in Orem, Utah, said they were not authorized to speak about the situation and referred all questions to corporate.
