Pacquiao-Marquez 3: Moving on and moving up

I try to clear my head at night as I fall asleep. But like most people, the more I try to clear it the more thoughts pop into it. It always ends up being some weird boxing thought. Which of course leads to some weird kind of dream. Take last night's dream. I guess with all the speculation about Manny Pacquiao and his recent lack of training that I am on Pacman overload. It went something like this.

September 7th. Word is that Manny Pacquiao is doing another movie. His representatives release a statement saying that the Miguel Cotto fight will be postponed until summer 2010. The boxing world is thrown into chaos. Reporters are sent to get an exclusive interview with Manny on the set of his new movie.

Newsflash, Philippines. The search for Manny Pacquiao is over. The junior welterweight and pound for pound king has been found on the set of his latest action flick. Manny is sporting a new look. Living the good life seems to have changed him. His new look, to be honest, he is huge.

I ask him what happened? "First let me tell you about my new movie, it is called The Deli Express."  "So", I ask, "it takes place in India?" Manny looks puzzled and tells me no. He proceeds to lay out the movie's plot for me. "I am flying a cargo plane full of deli meats from Boston to New York when I am forced to land the plane on an island during a bad storm. To survive I am forced to eat the entire cargo hold of deli meats." "It sounds great Manny, and how long are you standed on the island?" "Two days", Manny replies. "When the fog lifts I realize that I am actually on Long Island. Then the action begins as I try to shed the eighty pounds I gained in those two days."

Manny tells me that he is enjoying his life and wants to continue to fight. But he will not be losing the weight to do so. "I'll defend my pound for pound title, but I wont be coming back down to welterweight."

September 15th. Newsflash, Mexico. Juan Manuel Marquez has called an impromptu press conference. Also attending is Floyd Mayweather.

Floyd barks out, "I'm Money Mayweather and everything under the sun revolves around me, whatcha gotta say bout that J2M?" Juan responds," the Mayweather fight is off, I can't fool myself anymore." "I will be chasing Pacquiao up in weight, hoping to secure a fight with him at a catchweight of 212 pounds."

Floyd continues yelling at anyone that will listen, "I told all of you that nobody wants to fight me, but to prove how great I am, I will be calling out Ivan Calderon." A reporter yells back to Mayweather, "but isn't he the junior flyweight champion?" "That's right! That's how great I am, I'll fight all those champs, fly, beetle, ladybug, gnat!" ""Bring 'em all on!"

Suddenly a door in the back of the room swings open. The media seem happy to see whoever it is. As the man approaches, the media step back, way back. It's Ricky Hatton. He is back.

Floyd stands up pointing to Hatton, "didn't I beat you once before Ricky? You want another piece of the money man, don't cha? Well first you got to lose that ridiculous Ricky Fatton fat suit?" Ricky responds, "First off Floyd, I'd approach you mate, but I'm afraid Joe Cortez would jump in and tell me to break before I got within punching distance of you. And secondly, what the hell are you talking about? I'm not wearing a fat suit. I want to go up in weight and fight Marquez."

January 2010, Las Vegas. Pacquiao has been training on the anti- south beach diet. He has been consuming nothing but bad cards. Juan has been training at various buffets in California.

They both tipped the scales at 212 pounds. And I mean literally, their guts are so huge that the scale tipped forward when each man stepped on it. This is what Marquez has longed for. They meet in the center of the ring and fall into a clinch. Each man is exhausted. You can see the mental strain that each man is going through. The ref steps in to break them. He proceeds to give them the prefight instructions as the fight hasn't started yet.

It is going to be a long, long night.

Glen is actually funnier than Marley. Nice article Sir Glen. Hopefully, by next week we will know if Pacman is taking boxing seriously. But have you guys seen his current two leading ladies in Wapakman and his new sitcom, Ruffa Mae Quinto and Marian Rivera respectively? These two women are really hot. Pacman is milking it right now and hopefully he is milking these two women also. Hehehe.

Pacquiao,it seems to me that he is now way up in the clouds. Here's what going to happen: First, he is going to lose his fight against Cotto. Second, his ambition to become a Congressman in the currupt Philippines will be unsuccessful. These two things won't happen if Pacquiao would stick his feet on the ground. He has enough time to go back to his senses before it's too late. Good luck Manny. Wish you all the best in the world. I'm just one among your millions of fans.

Manny helps and elevates the Philippine republic pride and joy by winning fights. FREDDIE ROACH KNOWS this, MANNY'S ADVISER'S DO NOT. The people does not want a PAC congresman. The people does not want an ACTOR. The people does not want another TRAPO politician. COTTO is DEAD SERIOUS and now in training as if he's going to meet the DEVIL HIMSELF. Manny is still making movies...tsk...tsk. Freddie is banging the ALARM BELLS hope the country, and MANNY is listening!!!

    HAHAHAHAHA! :-) LOL.
With all the drama happening in the boxing world, this article was badly needed. Thanks Glen. You should trying pitching this to "Saturday Night Live" or "MAD TV". It would make a hell of a skit....(a catch weight of 212 pounds, HAHAHAHAHA!!!! still LMAO)

    funny article

Come fight night and Cotto is at 155 and Pacquiao at about 154-155, I'm taking Cotto to win.

If Cotto is at 155 and Pac at 145 at fight night, I'd pick Cotto to win as well.

PacMan needs to come in at around high 140s and low 150s.

  • reality bites 2 years ago

that was your dream...reality is pac's mind is not 100% in boxing any longer, probably half that now. 50% of his thoughts and actions are now into politics and showbiz that will eventually catapult him into the presidency. Team Pac, the political side under Chavit is already laying this foundation and as Roach is just the boxing trainer here, he is now inconsequential and less prioritised. Win or lose, MegaManny has ther logistics for his lofty ambitious and boxing may i sat in his life is already numbered.

  • Borat 2 years ago

Pac, in his weekly posting, just said that he's about 155 right now. There's about 10 weeks to go before the fight. If u factor in all the travel time, wear & tear, body clock adj. yada-yada, then lose 10 pounds, there's just too much going on. Pac is saying he knows his body better than anyone else. That's true but what he doesn't realize is that he's not 26 or 28 anymore. One's metabolism is different at 31 vs. 26 of age. We'll see.

  • ganja 2 years ago

what were you smoking as you typed this?

    i need to have some.

  • kiss.sabay.ag 2 years ago

metabolism crap. athletes have a different metabolic rates than us normal people do. The exercise they do, the miles they run... they burn goddam calories as fast as my hummer needs another gas refill.

speculate all you want...like the cotto crybaby fans who 24/7 spurt crap like " oh he's gonna get knocked out, oh he's askin for a 20 foot ring blah blah, one body punch will ktfo pac" and now age and metabolism? o.0? one things for certain...y'all are entitled to talk as much crap as you want...pac's bringin what he's consistently brought in the ring.. that's his A game.

it feels like deja vu to me to see people bein worried about his extracurricular activities outside the ring....this isnt the first time pac has done this, he was criticized before during the morales, barrera, marquez days...and he still brought his game with him.

Thanks Ganja foe your requets, here is my advise: stick to smoking dung as it is already your regular high and this seems to work wonders on your head. Don't change habit! Snot might be another good choice as you seem to have an abundance inside your noggins.....Happy tripping!

  • boksingero 2 years ago

hahaha. that's what we need from time to time. now, i don't care care about pacquiao being blinded by showbiz. i'll just laugh it off. if he loses to cotto, he deserves it.

i feel pity for this pactards who have no life outside pacquaio that they would rather see pacquaio lose for the perceived arrogance in manny. these people think they own pacquaio. Get a life you slinking lowlife worms! or better crawl back to where you came from and die. that goes for you 'pacfan dati' and 'boksingero'. you're pathetic. if you so wish pacquaio to lose, bet all your money on Cotto. put your money where your mouth is.

by the way, funny article Wilson :)

Wow! Nice one glenn. I've been a frequent reader and one thing I can say, You've got a good hell of imagination. Honestly speaking you have a point...

Metabolism is a key factor here. If pac will not pull his act together then, it's pretty much a nono for him.

I being a Filipino is behind him all the way, however, he should realize that politics is clearly not for him. If he really wants to help his fellow countrymen then I think he should find other ways. Not politics! Being an actor maybe good however, politics?

Hmmmm..... 30 years of growing up here is certainly evidense enough that not one in the entire nation has made a difference aside from him being a boxer.

Politicians here is just like rotten tomatoes, nice a good looking tomato mixed up with a crate full of rotten ones is just the same as the ebola virus, contageous....

Manny wake up! Blast em bad spirits lingering in your ears!

  • betz 2 years ago

All the Filipino people love him very much and claimed him as hero.

  • Barok 2 years ago

Very funny. Great imagination. Please tell Pacman to focus only one year in boxing and he can have the next 100 years in politics and helping other people if that is what he wants.

I'LL SAY THIS AGAIN! PLEASE CHANGE THAT PICTURE OF YOURS, IT'S REALLY, REALLY ANNOYING! THAT SMIRK ON YOUR FACE SEEMS LIKE SOMEBODY'S NAILING YOUR A__!

  • isidro 2 years ago

Was it early morning or afternoon nap it did touches you?Joke..
well the waiting plus the anticipated fight excitements makes a lot of people fill the news. But i do believe no time is being wasted here ,it will all fall in a typical Pacquiao pre fight
    intractability(boxing scene)and sometimes worrisome updates.
Anyway Cotto's very early training preparation isn't confirmed in the intensity and early development result, seems just a hype.
If it is just to create a psychological advantage then it is working because Manny is now on the negative side of the comments and increasingly. However it will die soon and will be back to hard training and great sparring updates then the fight match.

Marquez needs to win to fight Pacquiao again .... Pacquiao is 2 and 0 againts Marquez. 10-6 for 3 knockdowns in the first fight even the judge admits!!!!

  • Mactaczink 2 years ago

Sad to say, Hard as it maybe, Marquez boxing career will not be complete and no closure without this last fight with Pacman...forever Marquez will think of Pacman in his dream during sleep and during daytime what ever he do...the man who took away his pride & ego and even the respect of others...what ever he says about their previous fights, the records will remain that he was floored 4 times in 2 fights and he cant master a win....like the Loudmouth Mayweather, he too now lives in a world of make believe, to boost his self confidence and retain a little respect of himself.
