Fellow Examiner scribe Michael Marley is your walking source on all things Manny Pacquiao. Back when Marley was my boss at now defunct website BoxingConfidential, we had “manny” a clash over his obsession over the Filipino fighter.
Now, just two days away from Pacquiao’s third fight against Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez, the Pacquiao centric scribe is all sour grapes about the match-up.
Marley, who is in Las Vegas covering the event for Examiner, described the atmosphere in Sin City as uneventful.
“To be honest,” said Marley, “it does not feel like the days leading up to a major fight here in Las Vegas.”
Many fans and experts believe Pacquiao will steamroll and older Marquez , and Marley rides the Pacquiao bandwagon once again.
“Who cares about this fight,” said Marley.
And if you take the time to ask about the outcome, Marley, and ex-UNLV collegiate boxer, pulls no punches.
“You might want to watch if you like public executions,” said Marley via phone, where he was attending a Top Rank sponsored event.
No minced words from Marley, whose fight coverage goes back to the days of Cassius Clay a.k.a Muhammad Ali.
Just don’t let Bob Arum, head honcho over at Top Rank Promotions, find out about Marley’s comments, or he might get banned from Saturday night’s bout.
