Responding to Floyd Mayweather, Jr.'s statements earlier this week, seven-time world champion Manny Pacquiao says that "for the record" he wants to fight the undefeated former pound-for-pound king.

In an exclusive interview Tuesday evening on Los Angeles' television station KTLA, the Filipino superstar was on his way to a concert performance at a local theater. Boxing's current pound-for-pound king stated that "for the record," he wants to fight Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
Cher Calvin (KTLA, News Reporter): "So for the record, do you want to fight Mayweather."
Manny Pacquiao: "For the record, yeah!"

On Monday, November 16th, Mayweather, Jr. was quoted with additional statements on the Filipino superstar. In an article on fightfan.com, the undefeated boxer stated to onlookers after his workout: “Come back after I kick Pacquiao’s a**!”
Several potential venues are vying to host the potential showdown between the former and current pound-for-pound king of boxing, including the Wynn in Las Vegas, Yankee Stadium in New York, Superdome in New Orleans, and Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, among others.

From 2005 through 2008, American Floyd Mayweather, Jr. was regarded as the number one pound-for-pound boxer in the world. He has won six world championships in five different weight classes, and is a former WBC welterweight champion. Mayweather was named Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year in 1998 and 2007. Mayweather has a record of 40 wins including 25 by knockout.

PacMan was a one-dimensional, a lethal one-fisted fighter. Thanks to Team Pacquio & especially Roach, he is now a 2 fisted fighter. Knocked down Cotto & Hatton w/ the right. Gave Oscal & Diaz fits with his right. Cotto is a one fisted fighter.
Marquez is effective on both hands. That's why he gave PacMan problems but back then Manny was still developing his right.

a pacquiao vs mayweather is a mismatch. 1. mayweather doesn’t punch hard for a welterweight as what we have seen against a non welter marquez. 2.mayweather have a problem against southpaws. we have seen it against judah. the only problem is that judah doesn’t have a lot of punching combination compared to the pacman. 3. He has not fought a true welterweight for so long. 4. He has a fragile body the reason why he uses a bigger gloves. which reduces his punching power too, 5. pacman has beaten dela hoya and hatton better than what floyd did. 6. pacman never stops on improving, 7. The better trainer. 8. floyd has never faced a pacquiao level of opponent before.
pacquiao should fight the best of the middleweights. that would be an exciting match. A david and Goliath match. This will make him an 8th weight division champion. A new record for the legendary boxer.

Pacquiao vs PBF is for financial gain only, which Manny has more than enough. But for glory and fame, I believe the fight for Yuri Foreman, the newly crowned middle weight champion is the best option. Cotto has far more crediblility than Mayweather. Cotto has fought the best. Mayweather choose retire and duck, Cotto, Mosley, Margarita & other elite welterweights. When Mayweather came out of retirement he could have fought Pacquiao and instead, he fought an aging small lightweight in Marquez. Unless Pacquiao gets no less than 30/70 in his favor, forget Mayweather. Paquiao is the P4P king and a Welterweight Champion and Mayweather has nothing to offer, but big his dirty mouth. Go for the 154lbs 8th title to secure his legalzy to be the greatest surpassing Ali then retire. Retire while you are healthy and obey your mother. 54 fights is too much already.

Manny Pacquiao's latest victory totally trumps Mayweather's so called comeback bout with JMM. PacMan's latest showing totally left me on the edge of my seat throughout the bout whereas PBF left me yawning, no excitement at all and waiting for something dramatic to happen. I saw some real serious action in the early going and blood, sweat and tears with Cotto's performance against Manny. He was a worthy opponent. Mayweather cherrypicked a pudgy Marquez aand did not even go in with the stipulated catch weight to make it a virtual mismatch. So now the stage is set.
