Here in San Francisco where the weather is hot and sunny and people are walking around in shorts and tee shirts, it's hard to believe that just a couple of days ago at the 2011 Super Bowl in Dallas, snow was blocking the roadways and the access to Cowboys Stadium. The Packers won the Supebowl XLV.
Many San Francisco residents got in the chips and dip and a few beers to sit back and relax and watch the Super Bowl XLV. Some watched for the game itself but others watched just for the ads.
In fact, did you know that, according to CNN, around 51 percent of viewers just turn on the game to watch those ads?
The ads are the most expensive adverts of the year so companies make sure they put on memorable commercials every time.
Twitter has been tweeting about ads and the teams--the Packers and the Steelers--all day long. Click bluelink for slideshow of the Steelers and Packers
And if you missed an ad, what can you do? Any San Francisco resident in that predicament can head over to their computer and click on the Adblitz channel on YouTube. This lets you replay any Super Bowl ad once it has been on the air, according to San Francisco paper sfgate.com
Here in San Francisco the best places to watch the game and the ads (and now you know for next year), according to sfgate.com were: Abbey Tavern, an Irish sports bar with large screens. They had a complimentary buffet and music after the game. 4100 Geary Blvd (between 5th Ave & 6th Ave, San Francisco, CA 94118; 415.221.7767. Neighborhood: Inner Richmond.
There was also the Taco Shop @ Underdogs, a mix of taqueria and sports bar. 1824 Irving St (between 19th Ave & 20th Ave, San Francisco, CA 94122; 415.566.8700. Neighborhood: Outer Sunset.
Some of the ads were put on by Budweiser, Cars.com, eTrade, Pepsi, Chevrolet, and Ford.
Justin Bieber fans were pleased when they saw their idol featured in an ad with Ozzy Osbourne. The question was asked "What's a Bieber?" Click on the blue link if you want to see that Justin Bieber ad again
One of the best commercials this year, and one which quickly went viral, was a Volkswagen advert of a little boy in a Darth Vader costume who used “the force” on his dad's Passat.
