Packers fans free coffee: Football fans treated by team in sub-zero temps

Packers fans will get free coffee and free hand warmers courtesy of the team. Sunday's football game in Green Bay, Wisconsin is slated to be one of the coldest NFL games ever played. On Jan. 4, ESPN reported that temperatures at Lambeau Field are expected to be -2 degrees when the Packers and the 49ers take the field later today.

"The Packers plan to pass out 70,000 hand warmers, packets that fit inside gloves or boots and stay warm for up to 10 hours. The team will also provide free coffee and hot chocolate," reports ESPN. Plus, this is Wisconsin... these football fans know how to dress for the cold.

Packers fans' free coffee and free hand warmers aren't going to save them from the bitter cold but it's a nice gesture by the team to say "thank you for braving the cold." While a lot of people couldn't imagine being outside for several hours in sub-zero temps, other people love it. They dress in layers and make sure they have hats, gloves, and extra socks and they have fun -- yes, that's possible even when you can't feel your extremities!

Today's game won't be the coldest one ever played at Lambeau Field. The infamous Ice Bowl of 1967 saw temperatures hovering around -13! Some say that today's game could rally the Ice Bowl for coldest NFL game ever! Brr!

Although the Packers are giving fans free coffee amongst other things, the weather is really going to take a toll on people who aren't prepared. Hopefully fans dress accordingly and take some time to head inside to warm up throughout the game. Would you attend such a cold football game?
