The Celtic sounds of bagpipes will fill Holy Cross Lutheran Church on Sunday, March 16 when Jay Salter joins the worship service.

Salter’s bagpipes are of the St. Patrick’s Day tradition at the Pacifica church which celebrates the holiday that honors the 5th Century Apostle of Ireland. Originally brought to Ireland as a slave, Patrick escaped but returned as a missionary to eventually become the Archbishop.

A professional level bagpiper, Salter has performed professionally for over 30 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is the founder and major piper of the Santa Cruz Pipes & Drums, an active instructor and plays a repertoire of music with Scottish, Irish, and other origins. A recipient of a variety of awards and prizes, he also plays whistle and Scottish Smallpipes.

Salter performs 11 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church located at 1165 Seville Dr., Pacifica, California.

Services are free and open to the public. A traditional St. Patrick’s Day lunch follows with an opportunity to meet the musician. For more information, call 650.359.2710
