Last year, moviegoers were enticed with a blockbuster called Pacific Rim. The film directed by Guillermo Del Toro played homage to the kaiju genre by pitting giant robots against colossal monsters. While the movie gained a fanbase, the box office numbers kept Pacific Rim from being a true success. Because of this, it seemed that any continuation for this blockbuster would be unlikely. However, in a new report today, there might be hope for a Pacific Rim 2.

According to the Buzzfeed, Guillermo Del Toro is in fact working on another Pacific Rim. From the report, Pacific Rim 2 will written by Guillermo himself, as well as screenwriter Zak Penn who is also known for his work on X-Men: The Last Stand and The Avengers. Together, the director and the screenwriter will put their heads together to come up with the next installment to Pacific Rim. Del Toro had this to say about the project as well as working with Zak Penn.

"We've been working for a few months now in secret. We found a way to twist it around. Travis Beacham [co-writer of the first film, now working on Fox's 'Hieroglyph'] was involved in the storyline and now I'm writing with Zak because Travis has become a TV mogul."

While the Travis Beacham won't be involved, the fact that the there will be another Pacific Rim should be exciting for any fan of the film. So what can we expect to see from this next? Will the movie be a continuation to the 2013 film; or could it be something else. As it stands, only Guillermo Del Toro and Zak Penn.
