Andrew Bullock, 18, of Aliquippa, Pa., was in court on the evening of Dec. 13, being arraigned on charges that he brutally choked, beat and then raped a retired 70-year-old nun in the parking lot of a Roman Catholic Church earlier that day in Aliquippa.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that Bullock approached the nun in the parking lot of St. Titus’ Church near Pittsburgh, and asked her if she needed assistance.

After she said no thanks and declined the teen’s offer of help, Bullock flashed her.

Bullock then grabbed the nun’s neck, choked and punched her, according to police. Then, he reportedly raped her.

The assistant police chief in Aliquippa, Dan Couch, noted, “The first thing you notice when you look up where this horrific act occurred is the statue of the Virgin Mary looking down.”

The unidentified nun, suffering from a dislocated jaw, was beaten so badly that she couldn’t speak when police arrived on the scene to interview her. She was forced to write down on paper that she had been raped.

Young Andrew Bullock confessed his atrocity to police after they caught up to him thanks to a description, and a shoe print he left embedded in the snow at the scene of the crime.

Bullock was charged with a myriad of misdemeanor charges, plus felony rape, aggravated assault, and sexual assault.

The Sisters of St. Joseph released a statement saying that they:

“ … are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the assault of one of our Sisters.”

“As we offer continued prayers of healing for our Sister, we also pray for the young man who has been arrested in the assault.”

Andrew Bullock was jailed Friday night in lieu of $50,000 bond.

The retired nun was described by her order as “a passionate advocate of nonviolence, peace and justice, and each month she conducts a prayer vigil for peace in the chapel of our Motherhouse.”
