PA shelter seeking public's help to identify emaciated dog's owner (Photos)

On Thursday, February 21, a 3-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier weighing a mere 25 pounds, instead of the 50 pounds she should weigh for her size, was allegedly found as a stray near Falling Spring Road in Chambersburg.

She was brought to the Lincoln Way Animal Hospital, where she was named Eve.

Eve caused initial concern when she could barely move, with a temperature so low it was unable to register on the thermometer. The average temperature for a dog is 101.5.

She received fluids and heat at the hospital, and after several hours, her temperature was registering at 92 degrees. The diagnostic tests that were done to determine if there was a physical reason for why she is so thin all came back negative.

Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter manager, Jennifer Merletti states, "She wagged her tail for them once her temp came up," Merletti said "But...she's not out of the woods yet." Watch a video of Eve here.

If you recognize or have any information about Eve, or know her owner, the shelter is asking you to please call them at (717) 263-5791.
