A long time ago, in Brazil they used mortar and pestle (picture in the slide show) to grind the raw peanuts to make this kind of candy. Nowadays it's manufactured and sold in supermarkets and stores.
Today we don't need a mortar to make this candy but just a regular grinder for the peanuts, as you'll see the recipe below which doesn't use too much ingredients and it's easy to do.
INGREDIENTS:
1 pound of clean, raw peanuts
1/2 pound of manioc flower
1 cup of sugar
1/2 bar or margarine
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
DIRECTIONS:
Once you grind your peanuts, add all the ingredients in a good size bowl to mix them up. Using a tablespoon or even your own hands separate them in small containers to press them real good.
You can make them in all kinds of shapes, like square or cork shaped, as you can see the picture in the slide show, as well. You can also use an ice cube container to do it.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that you press the mix well, once you separate it so it gets really compacted. That's why we (Brazilians) call them 'paçoca'.
If you like peanuts I'm sure that you'd love to try this recipe! Enjoy!!!
