UPDATE 12/30/13: Seese has already been released from prison. According to the Pocono Record he was fired from his job today as a resource conservationist at the Pike County Conservation Distrist. Read more here.
Russell Seese, 27, from Greentown, was sentenced on Friday to 48 hours to 12 months in the Pike County Correctional Facility, and a fine of $500 in connection with the abuse he inflicted upon his Labrador/pit bull mix, Lexi.
Seese admitted that on February 28, he placed Lexi in a filthy chicken coop after wrapping her snout and legs with duct tape. On March 1, she was found on his property by Pennsylvania State Police, and he was charged with two counts of animal cruelty.
We agree with the source in wondering why Seese was not forced to pay any restitution costs for vet bills and behavior training that followed the torture Lexi sustained, or why he was not banned from future pet ownership.
On a happier note, Lexi, now Jaynah, is in the care of Devine Destiny Rescue, where they reported that she continues to flourish with the training she is receiving.
