PA man facing cruelty charges after violent dog beating caught on video

Matthew Gibala, 31, of South Fork was arrested Wednesday and is facing two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty and a count of disorderly conduct for allegedly repeatedly kicking, punching, and stepping on the neck of a female miniature pinscher, Iris, then picking her up by her hind legs, shaking her, and hitting her head on the side of his Cambria County house.

Not only was the abuse being captured on video by a neighbor, but it was allegedly done in front of three young children, which constitutes the disorderly conduct charge.

Iris and another mixed breed dog, Sampson, were removed by Cambria County Humane Society.

Scarily, Gibala had adopted both dogs from the Cambria County Humane Society three weeks ago.

Both dogs showed extreme signs of abuse and are now recovering from this horrible experience - Iris in a private home receiving constant care and Sampson at the Humane Society in Richland Township.

Gibala was arraigned today and bond was set at $10,000. His next court date is February 20.
