Looking for that foot in the film industry door? Confused about how to succeed as an entry-level Production Assistant? Quixote's PA Bootcamp returns to Hollywood South, collaborating with the New Orleans Video Access Center to bring workforce training to residents in Orleans and St. Bernard parishes. Applications are being accepted now through September 7th. Bootcamp will be held on September 28th-29th.
The collaboration is part of NOVAC's 'Ready, Set, Film' workforce training series. Led by Quixote's PA Bootcamp instructors, selected students will gain a crash-course in life on a film set. Curriculum includes: lingo, daily paperwork, radio etiquette, and more. Students will be guided through the process of finding work and formatting resumes.
Applications can be filled out online, along with a resume e-mailed to email@example.com. Interviews will be conducted September 12th-18th, with admitted applicants announced September 20th. Once accepted, participants are required to submit a $75 enrollment fee.
Also, coming up at the end of August is NOVAC's 'Intro to AFTER EFFECTS,' led by NOLA-based designer Sophie Gallo. The workshop happens Saturday and Sunday, August 31st and September 1st and will cover the basics of breathing life into films with motion graphics and 2D animation. Included is AE Interface, NTSC vs HD, importing, working simple/starting small, animation tips/tricks, rendering, and file structure.
Students will be presented the opportunity to create title sequence, commercial, kinetic type, and web banner.
The class costs $250 for current NOVAC members, or $300 for new NOVAC members and will be held at the training center (532 Louisa St).
