With spring in full bloom there’s plenty to do regardless of where the good times take you so whether you’re looking to voice your opinion as a Santa Clara resident meeting on the upcoming improvements of Central Park (public meeting to be held on March 18 at the Santa Clara Library) or taste wine and eat corned beef & cabbage on St. Patrick’s Day (on March 17 hosted by Domenico’s in San Carlos) or watch the Dr. Isaac Asimov Memorial live debate (on March 20 at the American Museum of Natural History) – we have the event you’re looking for here on Examiner.com; all you need is a sweetheart to join you and the oomph to give it your all, the drive to be safe and the initiative to designate a sober driver if alcohol is involved. As always, be sure to make those memories count as they should be cherishable, charitable and magnificently unforgettable. Ciao for now.

Monday, March 18, 2013 – Happy Tuesday Eve! P.K.’s message

Anywhere, USA – Hello, good day and if you remember from last week: Have you had your smile today? :) Have you done something kind today? Speaking of smiles, what happened to being nice to others? Where did all the "nice" magic go? I don't just mean on the road (we can work on that later); I mean in crowds, in stores, in the bank, when you meet others, doesn't anyone even say "hello," or "good day" any more? What happened to helping a person with something, such as crossing the street, or picking up something they dropped? Or, with a spilled something, or with opening a door if their hands are full? Did niceties go out the window while driving down I-5 to Los Angels or while driving down I-280 to San Francisco? Did Frosty take the niceness with him when he melted after winter? Seriously, what if we began a "Be Kind to Others Day" and made it endless? Would it spread like wildfire? Would it light the world and make it a little brighter? Would it change even just ONE person's day? It certainly couldn't hurt and it starts with just one person making a change; so are you with me? Have you had your smile today, and more importantly, have you shared it with another, and have you done something kind today? :)

“All these primary impulses, not easily described in words, are the springs of man's actions.” –Albert Einstein

“It is curious to observe what different ideals of happiness people cherish, and in what singular places they look for this well-spring of their life. Many look for it in the hoarding of riches, some in the pride of power, and others in the achievements of art and literature; a few seek it in the exploration of their own minds, or in search for knowledge.” –Helen Keller

Your contributions are welcome and appreciated.

Answer to last week’s Mystery Photo: The answer to last week’s Mystery Photo: Last week’s Mystery Photo was an inside case of shamrock and St. Patrick’s Day celebration decorations at a location inside the same city as the Cherub fountain; in this case it is Santa Clara, at the family restaurant of Holder’s Country Inn. It is a great family restaurant with great food. Lots of seniors go there as well as the locals; a place known for a few specialties, such as their cinnamon rolls and cakes; and homemade meals such as soups; and well just about everything. This week’s Mystery Photo: What is the picture of the horse? Is it a Trojan horse, or is that a Morgan horse? Nope, it is not a Trojan (at least not one that can get your computer anyway); but a Morgan horse. And, is a horse always a horse “of course” or is a horse just a horse, or not either, of course? Well, to us, a horse always has a meaning (or history) so can you guess where this horse resides (in front of what venue, in what city)? And, who its creator is? I know, so many questions! Hint: The venue is listed in the Weekend Roundup!

A special thank you to all who contribute to the Weekend Roundup and I hope you'll continue your contributions and photos!
