Riverview-based animal rescue P.A.W.S. of Michigan has posted the following opportunities to contribute to the fourth annual "Love Me Because…" pet adoption event. "Love Me Because…" is designed specifically to place animals with special needs, who have a much more difficult time in finding a permanent home. The event is hosted by Hood's Do-It Best Center of Wyandotte at 1844 Ford Avenue (Northline Road). This year the event will be held on February 2.
Those who want to help the animals before the event can join other P.A.W.S. of Michigan volunteers in crafting fleece tie-blankets for the animals. The blankets help the animals stay comfortable during the event. There are two times and venues available for crafting the blankets:
- Sunday January 13, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Shelter to Home Pet Adoption Center, 266 Oak St., Wyandotte.
- Sunday January 20, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 976 Superior Blvd., Wyandotte.

The "Love Me Because…" team is also accepting donations for its bake sale. Items can be dropped off on
- Friday, February 1, 2013, at Hood's Do-It Best Center between 8:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.,
- Friday, February 1, 2013, at Wyandotte Animal Shelter between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
