An Ozzy Osbourne knighthood petition is gaining big attention today. Over 10,000 people have signed the petition online to get the former Black Sabbath singer knighted. Is it possible that Ozzy could soon be Sir Ozzy? It is not likely that Queen Elizabeth would make a decision about knighthood based on an online petition, but it is gaining speed nonetheless. On May 4, The Inquisitr reported on the petition started by one far.

Who began this petition? Helen Maidiotis began the petition back in February. Since then, 10,741 have signed the online petition electronically agreeing with the fan that Osbourne should be knighted. The petition has 10 weeks left to reach 20,000 signatures. Maidiotis is trying to get the notice of David Spooner with this petition. He is the Britain’s Honors and Appointments Secretariat.

Ozzy Osbourne has been in the music business for over 40 years, and Maidiotis feels that his contribution to the music industry is worthy of the knighthood honor. The singer is now 65 years old. He has not had it easy in recent years, but he has remained in the spotlight. With his family hitting reality television in the last decade and his wife making a name for herself on "America's Got Talent" on NBC, this family has stayed in the news.

Does Ozzy really deserve this great honor though? Knighthood is something that is not just handed out to anyone. Other well-known celebrities that have received the honor include Steven Spielberg, Elton John, and Plácido Domingo? Does the singer of a heavy metal band fit? He was the man that bit off the head of a bat on stage after all. What do you think?
