Ozzy doc, Chili Peppers concert coming to a theater near you

The Ozzman cometh to movie theaters in San Antonio and nationwide. And not far behind are those psychedelic funksters, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Announced within the hour, "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne" is a documentary about The Prince of Darkness through the eyes of his son, Jack Osbourne. Showing exclusively in theaters at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 24 and Aug. 29, the film will have never-before-seen Black Sabbath footage and some of Ozzy's recent solo tour clips. Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee and Paul McCartney are among the musicians who share anecdotes.

Four San Antonio theaters will broadcast the documentary both nights: AMC Huebner Oaks 24, McCreeless Mall, Cielo Vista 18 and Fiesta 16 Theatres. For a complete listing of theaters throughout the United States, click on the blue link located here. Venues are subject to change.

Tickets are on sale now; enter your zip code at the link here. Once you enter it, the address, phone number and ticket-purchase link of your city's participating theaters will be visible. San Antonio prices range from $9.50 per child to $12.50 per adult, depending on the theater.

Who knows? If you saw Ozzy headline the AT&T Center on Jan. 24, you could see yourself on the big screen.

Meanwhile, the Red Hot Chili Peppers announced Thursday their own theater experience. Tickets went on sale today for "I'm With You: Live In Concert," which will be shown at 8 p.m. on Aug. 30 and Sept. 1 in 450 cinemas around the United States.

I'm With You, the Chili Peppers' first studio album since 2006's Stadium Arcadium, will be released on Aug. 30. That evening, the band will play a stadium concert in Cologne, Germany. The show is being billed as the Chili Peppers' "first and only live performance of their new album, plus select greatest hits."

The same four San Antonio theaters that are showing the Ozzy documentary are participating in the Chili Peppers' delayed broadcast concert on Aug. 30. The AMC Huebner Oaks theater, however, will not be showing the Sept. 1 broadcast. For complete participating U.S. cineplexes for both dates, click on the blue links found here. To purchase tickets, once again enter your zip code here, and select your theater of choice. In San Antonio, prices range from $15-$20.

Both of these events follow other recent hard rock and heavy metal cinematic showings, including the "Lemmy" documentary, concerts by Bon Jovi and Slipknot, the Rush documentary "Beyond The Lighted Stage," and last summer's historic showing of the Big 4 concert (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax) from Sofia, Bulgaria.
